"You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you." -Ray Bradbury

Who Is Scarlett St. Claire?

Scarlett St. Claire is a wordsmith.  She lives to write young adult fantasy with a macabre flair, to discover what lies under the veneer of her nightmares, and to find adventure amongst the greatest friends a writer could have: her characters. Her mission is to elevate the imagination through the power of language, to rise above reality, and to tell a story that spellbinds into the witching hours of the night.

Scarlett is self-indulgent: she owns thirty-two shades of crimson lipstick, one cat, a .45 Desert Eagle handgun, and several Victorian gowns that bustle. She has a passion for great epic literature, long Japanese manga series, and anything by Neil Gaiman, Chris Wooding, or Markus Zusak.  She is a discriminating and wide reader; though lately she's finding fewer and fewer titles worth her attention.

Her affinities are reserved for rainy days, graveyards, fast American cars, frightening mythological monsters, and quite inexplicably, pink frosted cupcakes with glittery sugar.  And good books, of course.  She refuses absolutely to buy a Kindle, Sony Reader, or Nook, thank-you-very-much.

Scarlett spent seven years working for various Barnes & Noble locations throughout the West Coast; nowadays, she prefers the comforts of a library. And while San Francisco is her favorite haunt, her current location is unknown.
